The nature and causes of economic inequality and exploitation are widely misapprehended and, consequently, their cures usually miscarry. Those who cry the loudest about exploitation are the very ones whose cures will result in the only true exploitation that exists. All of their claims about exploitation are not only wrong but in fact exactly the opposite to the true exploitation that only their own favored economic system can create or sustain. The inequality that is inherent to political, social, and economic liberty is abhorrent to Socialism, but it is precisely this characteristic of liberty that penalizes the widespread exploitation of one group by another. Simply put, it is Socialism that is inherently exploitative of the members of society, and it is only the inequality that is at the heart of liberty that is its cure.

The Sunni minority in Iraq is being called "disaffected" by the American press. Now, I have no doubt that this is the case, but why should they be so. For what cause should they feel alienated from the political process there? One Sunni leader rejected an appointment to the new Iraqi cabinet on grounds that he was appointed because he was Sunni. Well...Yep, and so what. Would he prefer to be murdered as the Hutu majority did to their former Tutsi masters in Rwanda?

Once I had cast my ballot on election day, I gave the entire matter over to the Lord and did not even think about it for almost twenty-four hours. I would not even let my wife, who had been glued to the television during the evening of election day, brief me on the situation as it stood around midnight. This was not due, however, to disinterest or fear that my man, George Bush, would lose. On the contrary, it was due to a complete faith in God that He was in control of the outcome. I had prayed about the election earnestly and continuously for over a year, and once election day came, it was all in His hands. The outcome would not be affected by my watching and worrying about it through the day, and I was confident that the Lord's will would be done—even if the other guy had won.
